Ventana Grille at Tierra Verde Golf Club is serving Sunday brunch today.

The City of Arlington lists brunch at Ventana Grille as a recurring Sunday event.

It's an easy local option if the goal is simply to get out of the house without making the drive into Dallas or Fort Worth.

Before you go: Check with the restaurant for current brunch hours or reservation availability.

This one won't apply to everybody — but for the people who need it, it's genuinely useful.

Arlington Animal Services is holding a Feral Cat Sunday Trap-Neuter-Return clinic today from 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.

The clinic is free, but only the first 20 Arlington feral cats arriving between 8:00–9:00 AM will be accepted.

The city says additional Feral Cat Sundays are also scheduled later this year.

Have a child in kindergarten through third grade?

Arlington Water Utilities has opened its A Dream in Every Drop Mini-Poster Contest for kids who either live in Arlington or attend school here.

The theme asks kids to create artwork showing how safe, reliable water helps make their dreams possible.

And the prizes are actually pretty fun:

One winner from each grade is expected to be announced Oct. 15.

DCD PARENT PICK: This is the kind of low-effort weekend project that could turn into a pretty memorable experience if your kid wins.

The Northeast Branch Library at 1905 Brown Blvd. has completed another round of improvements.

The improvements were part of projects approved by Arlington voters through the 2023 Bond Election.

So if you haven't been over there in a while, the branch is back to normal operations with the work complete.

One of the more unusual sports events on Arlington's calendar is coming later this month.

The Savannah Bananas will make their Globe Life Field debut Sept. 25–27, playing three games against the Texas Tailgaters.

If you've never seen Banana Ball, it's essentially baseball redesigned for entertainment: faster pacing, unusual rules, and a lot more crowd involvement.

Games operate with a two-hour time limit, and rules include things like fans catching foul balls for outs.

Best for: Families, sports fans, or anyone who finds regular baseball a little too slow.

The Downtown Arlington Classic Car Show returns Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 AM–3 PM at Vandergriff Town Center.

DCD PICK: This looks like one of the stronger free family outings on Arlington's September calendar. You can make a whole morning or afternoon of it without needing to buy admission.

Arlington Public Library's 150th Anniversary Reading Challenge is running through Oct. 31.

The challenge encourages participants to read and log their minutes through Beanstack as Arlington continues celebrating its 150th anniversary.

If your family already reads regularly, this is basically a free add-on rather than another activity you have to squeeze into the schedule.
